When solidarity engagement and sustainable initiatives go hand in hand
🤝 SGD Pharma, we are committed to sustainable business that supports our local communities. A recent example is a visit to the Guangzhou Children’s Hospital, alongside the Hopeful Heart association – an organization dedicated to supporting children with cardiac conditions.Â
đź’–Â To date, Hopeful Heart has helped save 250 young lives across China. In Guangzhou alone, 16 surgeries were successfully performed in 2025, each one a powerful reminder of what collective commitment can achieve.
 Â
Represented by our local team, Frederic Barbier – General Manager China & Asia-Pacific, , Lynette Liu – Sales Marketing, and Nicolas Bonjour – R&D Engineer, we had the opportunity to witness the impact of this work firsthand – and donate to support the care of children followed by the association.Â
But more importantly, it made us consider practical ways of contributing to more sustainable waste management solutions for healthcare environments. Â
During our exchanges with hospital teams, several insights stood out:Â
• Use of Type I and Type II glass vials (500 ml sterile water, 250 ml sodium chloride) as well as tubular vials. Â
• Nearly 40 tons of Type II glass used and disposed of each year. Â
• Strict glass sorting carried out by nursing staff. Â
• Collection handled by a government entity.
Because every action counts, whether at a patient's bedside or in the choices we make for the future.Â
