Meet Chunyan ZHENG, Deputy General Manager – Industrial Operation at SGD Pharma’s manufacturing plant in Zhanjiang, southern China.
Since joining SGD Pharma 15 years ago, Chunyan’s career has spanned a wide range of responsibilities – member of the Quality team, manager of the Decoration workshop, Director of R&D, Commercial Director, and now Deputy General Manager in charge of Operations since June 2021.
Her career has involved leading and delivering impact across different functions. Three transformative experiences stand out.
· The Créations – an R&D innovation project to develop new glass technologies and decoration process for presentation to customers at an annual new product event. Thanks to this initiative we’ve built a truly localized R&D team and elevated our innovation capabilities.
· Leading the commercial team to record growth, especially doubling the Beauty segment business.
· Industrial Operation achievements include a major furnace rebuild, a safety milestone of 8,000,000 working hours without a lost-time accident, a cost efficiency project that has since become a group benchmark, and being the first in the group to integrate post-consumer recycled (PCR) glass into production – also making Zhanjiang plant the first glass manufacturer in China to achieve ISO 14021 recycled content certification.
In a role where female leaders are still rare, Chunyan was incredibly proud to light the new furnace, becoming the first woman at the Zhanjiang plant to take on this symbolic responsibility.
